Weather conditions:

Local villagers indicated that it was the latest spring in many years. Nests of divers were not initiated until the second week of June. Large lakes still contained substantial ice on June 20.

Breeding conditions:

Arctic Foxes were seen more commonly than in 2000 and nest predation was very high. Nest survival of divers was below 5%, compared with approximately 25% in 2000.
